Taubaté City Hall extends deadline for paying IPTU and garbage tax for the second time
The City Hall of Taubaté has extended the deadline for the payment of the IPTU and garbage tax until March 31, 2026, marking the second extension of this deadline.
The City Hall of Taubaté, Brazil, has announced a second extension of the payment deadline for the Urban Property Tax (IPTU) and the Household Garbage Collection Fee, now set for March 31, 2026. This extension aims to provide additional time for taxpayers who may be impacted by the gradual distribution of tax bills at their residences. Originally, the payment was due on March 10, but this was first pushed to March 20 before the latest adjustment came into play.
The new deadline applies to those who wish to take advantage of a 10% discount for paying in a lump sum. Moreover, the extension also encompasses other municipal taxes, including fixed ISS and various public fees. City officials have indicated that this change is made to facilitate the payment process for residents who might not receive their tax bills in time for the original deadlines.
Despite the printed bills showing an initial due date of March 20, taxpayers can now avoid penalties or interest by paying by March 31 while still retaining their available discounts. Furthermore, taxpayers can access their payment slips online through the City Hall’s official website. This move emphasizes the city's effort to support its citizens during what may be a financially challenging time.
