Taubaté City Hall extends payment deadline for IPTU and garbage fee to March 20

The City Hall of Taubaté has extended the payment deadline for the IPTU and garbage fee to March 20, officially announced in recent decrees.

The City Hall of Taubaté has announced an extension for residents to pay their IPTU (property tax) and garbage fee until March 20. This move, formalized through decrees published on the 6th, allows residents to avoid late fees and penalties if they pay by the new deadline. Payments made after this date will incur interest and fines calculated based on the original due date of March 10.

Additionally, the extension applies to other municipal taxes, including the Imposto Sobre Serviços (ISS), and various fees. It is important to note that citizens who have already paid before this extension will not receive refunds. The garbage fee, which began collection in 2026, is calculated per square meter of constructed area, and for residential properties, the fee is set at R$ 1.80.

The municipal administration has also approved a review of the Generic Value Plan, which updates the taxable base for IPTU in the city. This revision reflects ongoing efforts by the local government to ensure fair and equitable taxation as it manages the provision of services and infrastructure for Taubaté’s residents.
