Itaquaquecetuba extends the due date for the 1st installment of the IPTU
The due date for the first installment of the IPTU in Itaquaquecetuba has been extended to March 2 due to delays caused by a postal strike.
The city of Itaquaquecetuba, Brazil, has announced that the due date for the first installment and the single payment of the Urban Land and Property Tax (IPTU) has been extended to March 2. This decision was made in light of delays in the delivery of the IPTU payment booklets as a result of a strike by postal workers. The initial deadline for payment was scheduled for the previous Sunday, January 15.
The municipal administration explained that the tax booklets were posted in late December 2025, but the strike, which began on December 16, 2025, affected the timely delivery to residents. While the strike involved workers from nine states in Brazil, it was described as partial, with around 91% of postal employees reportedly continuing to work normally.
Residents who have not received their IPTU booklet or who require a duplicate can obtain assistance at the city's Property Registration Office or request it online. Those opting for online services must access the city's official website to retrieve the necessary tax information, ensuring they meet the new deadline for payment to avoid penalties.
