Taubaté City Hall warns of 'false IPTU delivery scam'
Taubaté's City Hall has issued a warning regarding a scam where impostors posing as IPTU delivery personnel are attempting to deceive residents.
The City Hall of Taubaté has raised alarms concerning a scam known as the 'false IPTU delivery scam', where individuals posing as municipal workers are attempting to defraud local residents. These impostors present themselves with fake IDs and personal information to build trust with the homeowners. They claim to be delivering the IPTU documents and demand an immediate payment of a fee, often through credit card transactions.
In response to these scams, the municipal administration has made it clear that it does not conduct in-person collections for IPTU documents and advises residents to refrain from making any payments to unknown individuals. They stress the importance of not sharing credit card details or passwords and recommend that anyone approached by these scammers either refuse contact and reach out to local law enforcement or, in cases of financial loss, inform their bank and file a police report.
This warning comes as the physical IPTU documents are slated for home delivery, and officials suspect that the timing of this scam is deliberately targeting citizens during this period. The city's proactive communication aims to safeguard residents from these fraudulent schemes, ensuring they remain vigilant against such deceptive practices.
