Jacareí City Hall extends IPTU payment deadline to April 23 after delays and queues
Jacareí City Hall has extended the deadline for IPTU payments to April 23, 2026, following delays in the delivery of payment slips.
The Jacareí City Hall has announced an extension of the payment deadline for the first installment or single payment of the IPTU (Urban Property Tax) to April 23, 2026. This decision comes in response to significant delays in the distribution of payment slips, which forced many residents to seek in-person assistance at municipal offices. As a result, long queues formed at these locations, prompting the city to take swift action to alleviate the situation for its citizens.
In an effort to assist residents, the city set up 11 service points in various regions where citizens can collect their payment slips or receive guidance regarding the tax payments. The mayor's office is also ensuring that the payment slips will start being delivered in the coming weeks, ahead of the new payment deadline, to facilitate the process for taxpayers and avoid further confusion.
Additionally, this year’s IPTU payment slips will be issued in a new format using 'Pix boleto', which includes a QR code for direct payments via banking apps. This modernization aims to streamline the payment process for residents and reduce the inconvenience experienced during the delivery delays, reinforcing the city’s commitment to improving municipal services and responsiveness to constituents' needs.
