Bust of a drug trafficking racket in Bareilly, smuggler arrested with drugs worth 5 crore

A suspected drug trafficker was arrested in Bareilly with 2.645 kg of smacked valued at approximately 5.30 crore rupees.

On a Sunday in Bareilly, police apprehended a suspected drug trafficker found in possession of 2.645 kilograms of smacked, which is valued at around 5.30 crore rupees. The arrest was made based on a tip-off from an informant, leading the police to set up a stakeout on a road leading to the village of Raundhi. Shobhit Gupta, hailing from Sajni village in Badaun district, was taken into custody by a team from the Subhash Nagar police station.

During the search, police discovered the sizable quantity of smacked on Gupta. Following his arrest, he was booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, a stringent law targeting illegal drugs. Gupta revealed during questioning that he had purchased the illicit substance from a relative, Rajneesh Gupta, from the nearby village of Manikpur Shikarpur in Badaun district, indicating a broader network involved in this illegal activity.

This incident underscores the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in India, as authorities intensify their efforts to dismantle such operations. The alarming value of the drugs involved raises questions about the scale of the trafficking networks operating in the region and highlights the importance of vigilance by law enforcement to combat drug-related crime effectively.
