DRI's action in Lucknow, 2 smugglers arrested with drugs worth 18 crores

In Lucknow, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) conducted an operation at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, leading to the arrest of two passengers arriving from Bangkok. The authorities seized about 18 kilograms of hydroponic cannabis, which is estimated to have a market value of around 17 crores 96 lakhs (nearly 18 crores) in the international market. This significant haul highlights ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in India.
The arrested individuals were arriving on AirAsia flight FD-146 from Bangkok and were taken into custody upon arrival. DRI officials reported that the cannabis was discovered in 12 pink polyethylene packets. Following their arrest, the two smugglers were placed in judicial custody as investigations continued, with authorities indicating that further interrogations could lead to critical revelations regarding larger drug trafficking networks.
This incident underscores the persistent challenges faced by Indian law enforcement in controlling drug smuggling operations, which have been an ongoing issue.
