UP: 2.5 Crore Worth of Marijuana Seized, 2 Accused Arrested

In a significant drug bust in Chandauli district, Uttar Pradesh, the anti-narcotics task force from Varanasi collaborated with local police to apprehend two traffickers on Monday. The operation led to the seizure of nearly 500 kilograms of illegal marijuana, which was valued at approximately 2.5 crores INR in the illegal market. This interception took place near Baba Dhaba on the service lane of Chandauli Sadar police station area, as reported by a police official.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Pramod Gupta from Balesara in Ballia district and Akshay Kumar from Pachpera in Bareilly district. Along with the marijuana, authorities also confiscated a DCM truck that was used for transportation and about 2,220 rupees in cash. The arrests highlight ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat illegal drug trafficking in the region and underscore the severity of the drug problem in Uttar Pradesh.
