The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has arrested four smugglers and recovered 3.70 quintals of marijuana worth approximately ₹92.50 lakhs in an operation against drug trafficking.
The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has conducted a significant operation against drug trafficking, resulting in the arrest of four individuals involved in the smuggling of marijuana. During this operation, police seized 3.70 quintals of marijuana, estimated to be worth around ₹92.50 lakhs in the international market. The drug shipment, originating from Malkangiri in Odisha, was traced through Chhattisgarh and Sultanpur before reaching Lucknow.
The arrests occurred in the Gomtinagar extension area of Lucknow on February 13, 2026, around 8:32 PM, following a tip-off about a large consignment of marijuana being transported. It was revealed that the smugglers had been concealing the drug in a specially designed cavity on a truck, while using an unregistered Scorpio vehicle ahead to relay information about police checkpoints to the driver. This organized method aimed to evade suspicion and ensure the unimpeded transport of the illicit cargo.
This operation highlights the ongoing challenges in combating drug trafficking within the region and the crucial role played by the STF in disrupting these illegal networks. With the seizure representing a significant amount of marijuana, law enforcement agencies are likely to continue intensifying their efforts to curb drug smuggling activities in Uttar Pradesh and beyond, ultimately promoting public safety and health in the community.
