Drugs worth 2 billion found in car... Young man arrested in Maharajganj
A young man was arrested in Maharajganj, India, for possessing 48 kilograms of cannabis valued at approximately 2 billion rupees in the international market.
In a significant crackdown, the police in Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh arrested a 35-year-old man named Rakesh Yadav after seizing 48 kilograms of cannabis, estimated to be worth around 2 billion rupees in the international market. The police, during a vehicle check conducted by the Parsamalik police team, stopped Yadav's car as he was traveling from Thuthibari to Nautanwa. Upon searching the vehicle, they discovered 59 packets of cannabis hidden inside.
According to Assistant Superintendent of Police Siddharth, Rakesh Yadav is suspected of being involved in the transportation of drugs for a larger syndicate. During the incident, another individual present in the car managed to escape, leading the police to initiate a search for him. The authorities are currently conducting interrogations to ascertain the sources of the cannabis and its intended distributor, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
This arrest comes in the backdrop of increasing efforts by law enforcement to dismantle drug trafficking networks in India, with recent reports indicating similar operations in Bengaluru where drugs worth 1.1 billion rupees were seized and multiple traffickers arrested.
