Brother and sister arrested with nearly 80 million in cannabis
A brother and sister have been arrested in Ahmedabad for their involvement in a marijuana trafficking operation that transported hybrid cannabis from Bangkok to India, with a total value of 7.97 crore rupees.
The Special Operations Group (SOG) in Ahmedabad has successfully dismantled a significant drug trafficking operation that involved smuggling hybrid cannabis from Bangkok to Ahmedabad. In a recent operation, authorities arrested a brother-sister duo who were found in possession of cannabis valued at approximately 7.97 crore rupees. The investigation revealed that the young woman, identified as Jiya Prajapati, had organized a group of young men from Rajasthan at the behest of a drug mafia to facilitate the cannabis procurement and transport from Bangkok.
Further inquiries into the case indicated that Jiya traveled to Bangkok in November 2025, likely for scouting opportunities related to her illegal activities. The SOG has highlighted that the arrests are part of a broader strategy to combat drug trafficking networks that have been exploiting international borders to smuggle narcotics into India. This incident underscores the growing concern regarding drug trafficking in India, particularly as it involves complex international operations that can pose serious risks to public safety.
Authorities are expected to delve deeper into the connections and syndicate structure behind this trafficking operation, aiming for further arrests and prosecutions. This incident serves as a critical reminder of the challenges law enforcement agencies face in curbing drug-related crimes that increasingly involve sophisticated networks and international collaboration.
