Customs officials have seized a significant amount of marijuana worth 10 crores at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and arrested two passengers who arrived from Bangkok.
At Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, customs officials have made a substantial drug seizure, apprehending two passengers coming from Bangkok. These two Indian travelers were arrested after customs intercepted them at Terminal 3, where they were found in possession of 0.724 kilograms of marijuana, valued internationally at ₹10 crores. The action took place on February 19, with officials conducting spot profiling that led to the arrest of the duo under the green channel procedure.
Following their initial detention, the passengers were subjected to an x-ray screening of their luggage. Upon further investigation, they were taken to a separate area where a black trolley bag was searched. Inside the bag, officials uncovered ten polyethylene pouches, which contained a green substance suspected to be cannabis or marijuana. The total weight of the seized marijuana was confirmed to be 10.724 kilograms, with a market valuation of ₹10.724 crores in international circles.
Both individuals were promptly arrested on-site, and the customs department is currently in the process of questioning them regarding this significant drug haul. This case highlights ongoing challenges related to drug trafficking at airports and emphasizes the crucial role of customs in securing national borders and preventing the influx of illegal substances into the country.
