Sahmyook University signs MOU with Sahmyook Foundation for AI specialist training
Sahmyook University has signed a memorandum of understanding with Sahmyook Foundation to enhance training and research collaboration for AI specialists in the field of social welfare.
Sahmyook University, led by President Je Hae-jong, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Sahmyook Foundation to strengthen the training and research collaboration for specialists in artificial intelligence (AI). This agreement aims to enhance the university's AI education and research capabilities and extend its applications into the field of social welfare. The Sahmyook Foundation operates over 70 social welfare facilities across the country, and the collaboration will focus on developing practical cooperation models such as workforce training focused on real-world applications and the operation of contract departments tailored to these needs.
As a result of the agreement, both institutions will progressively implement various initiatives, including the development of contract departments and the revision of curricula aimed at training talent for AI-centered universities, joint research projects, research staff exchanges, and support for internships and employment. Sahmyook University plans to establish a specialized training system that integrates AI with social welfare, thereby providing students with opportunities for real-world internships linked to employment and offering retraining opportunities for existing staff via contract programs and graduate courses. This strategy aims to systematically nurture practical talent that can respond to the demands arising from the digital transformation of welfare fields and the development of AI-based smart work systems.
President Je expressed that AI is transforming not only specific industry sectors but the operational structures of society at large, emphasizing the university’s expanded social role through education and research models linked to the welfare sector. Sahmyook Foundation’s Executive Director Bae Soon-kyun remarked that AI has already become a crucial tool in welfare service provision, and through this collaboration with Sahmyook University, they aim to enhance their expertise and improve the quality of welfare services.
