Sahmyook University Signs MOU with Seoul Volunteer Center to Activate Student Volunteer Activities
Sahmyook University has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Seoul Volunteer Center to enhance student volunteer participation.
Sahmyook University's Glocal Social Innovation Center has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Seoul Volunteer Center to promote and enhance student volunteer activities. This agreement, which took place on the 5th at the university's Centennial Hall, aims to systematically support volunteer activities that address social issues by expanding the involvement of students in community service. The collaboration seeks to utilize students' fields of study and talents to contribute to societal challenges, ensuring these volunteer efforts are effectively integrated into their academic experiences.
As part of this MOU, Sahmyook University will participate in the 'University-Linked Social Participation Project' led by the Seoul Volunteer Center. This initiative is designed to widen the base for student volunteer activities in various universities in Seoul and provide students with hands-on experiences in community engagement, drawing on their academic knowledge and skills. The collaborative efforts will include project-based volunteer activities, linked to course curricula and involving student organizations and clubs, thereby enriching the educational environment.
In addition to individual volunteering, the two organizations plan to conduct campus-wide volunteer campaigns focused on social values such as environmental protection, community relationship building, and digital inclusion, aiming to foster a culture of volunteerism within the university. They will also form a cooperative body involving the university, the Seoul Volunteer Center, and local non-profits to plan long-term projects aimed at resolving community issues and establish a sustainable model of collaboration between the university and the surrounding community. The director of the Glocal Social Innovation Center expressed hopes that this agreement will encourage students to engage directly in problem-solving processes within their communities, nurturing their sense of social responsibility and problem-solving abilities.
