Soongsil University's Korean Studies Institute signs MOU with Azerbaijan University of Languages

Soongsil University’s Korean Studies Institute has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Azerbaijan University of Languages to enhance Korean studies and cultural exchange.

Soongsil University’s Korean Studies Institute, led by Director Cha Bong-jun, announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Azerbaijan University of Languages on November 3 in Baku, Azerbaijan. This agreement aims to utilize K-MOOC courses related to traditional Korean arts and culture as well as expand academic exchanges in Korean studies. The signing ceremony was attended by notable figures including Kamal Abdulla, the rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages, and other representatives from both institutions.

The MOU outlines several collaborative efforts between the two institutions. These include the joint use of K-MOOC lecture content, co-hosting international academic conferences and seminars related to Korean studies, and the joint operation of programs at the Korea Studies Center at the Azerbaijan University of Languages. Kamal Abdulla expressed hope that this collaboration would position the Korea Studies Center at Azerbaijan University as a regional hub for Korean language education and research, while also mentioning the desire to establish a research center related to Azerbaijan at Soongsil University.

Director Cha Bong-jun highlighted the significance of the cooperation with the Azerbaijan University of Languages in realizing mutual goals of promoting and expanding Korean studies. He noted that this partnership would strengthen the cooperation framework for the overseas dissemination of educational content in traditional Korean arts and culture. The Soongsil University Korean Studies Institute is planning to carry out its K-academic dissemination program until 2028, developing and operating 10 K-MOOC courses related to traditional Korean arts.
