In a series of traffic accidents in Latvia, 16 individuals were injured, and three fatalities were reported, alongside significant traffic violations.

In Latvia, a busy day of traffic resulted in 102 recorded road accidents, which caused injuries to 16 people and tragically led to the deaths of three individuals. Among the injured were a pedestrian, a cyclist, and a driver of an electric scooter, highlighting the various types of road users affected by these incidents. The highest number of traffic-related calls came from the Riga region, where authorities responded to 268 emergency calls.

Law enforcement reported that 491 administrative decisions were made concerning various violations of traffic rules, with a notable 161 cases involving speeding. The authorities are taking a strong stance against drunk driving, as 15 drivers were apprehended for operating their vehicles under the influence of alcohol. Of these, seven faced administrative responsibility while eight are under criminal investigation, including the confiscation of two vehicles and actions being taken to recover the value of six other vehicles.

Aside from traffic incidents, the police also reported one case of car theft and two burglaries from residences over the same period. This incident rate underscores ongoing concerns regarding road safety and crime in Latvia, prompting calls for more stringent enforcement of traffic laws and public safety measures to protect citizens and ensure safer roads.
