On Monday, 12 people involved in traffic accidents

Twelve individuals were injured in traffic accidents across Latvia, with varying degrees of severity reported in multiple regions.

In the last 24 hours, Latvia experienced a concerning number of traffic accidents, with 12 individuals injured, including three pedestrians and one cyclist. According to aggregated information from the State Police, a total of 181 traffic accidents were reported nationwide, out of which 11 resulted in injuries. The accidents were spread across Riga, Zemgale, Vidzeme, and Kurzeme regions, but thankfully, none resulted in fatalities. This highlights the need for continued vigilance on the roads.

The majority of injuries occurred in the Riga region, where six individuals were hurt in six separate accidents. Notably, Zemgale recorded three injuries, including one pedestrian, while Vidzeme and Kurzeme each had one accident resulting in injuries. The diverse locations of these incidents emphasize the widespread issue of road safety across various parts of the country, necessitating further preventive measures.

In addition to the accidents, law enforcement reported that only one driver was caught under the influence of alcohol, with criminal charges applied in the Vidzeme region. Additionally, three drivers were penalized for aggressive driving, one each in Riga, Zemgale, and Vidzeme. Speeding violations were prevalent, leading to 118 administrative offense protocols issued nationwide, signaling an ongoing challenge in enforcing traffic regulations effectively in Latvia.
