Paraná receives storm alert for 56 cities this first autumn weekend; see weather forecast

The National Institute of Meteorology has issued a storm alert for 56 cities in Paraná due to potential severe weather this weekend.

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) has issued a warning regarding the potential for severe storms this weekend as the first autumn days begin in southern Paraná. The alert, effective Sunday, October 22, encompasses 56 municipalities in the state, highlighting the risks of hail, strong winds reaching up to 60 km/h, and heavy rainfall of up to 30 mm per hour or 50 mm in total for the day.

Meteorological forecasts from the Environmental Technology and Monitoring System of Paraná (Simepar) indicate that autumn officially starts on Friday, October 20, bringing higher temperatures and the possibility of isolated rain showers. During the day, the sun is expected to dominate across the state, pushing temperatures up to 33°C or 34°C in the western and northwestern regions, while other areas could see highs around 30°C.

This warm and humid weather creates an environment conducive to instability in the afternoon, particularly in northern, northwestern, and western Paraná. Meteorological experts anticipate isolated rain in these areas between the afternoon and evening, signaling a distinct transition to the autumn season as these weather patterns develop throughout the weekend.
