The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) has issued three alerts for the state of Paraná, Brazil, as severe weather is expected on Friday, December 13. The yellow alert, indicating 'potential danger', encompasses all cities in the state and warns of possible rainfall of up to 50 mm, winds reaching 60 km/h, and the potential for hail. This alert will remain in effect until 11:59 PM, highlighting the need for residents to prepare for adverse weather conditions.
In addition to the yellow alert, an orange alert for 'danger' has been issued for 244 cities across the state, also valid until 11:59 PM. This alert projects rainfall accumulation of up to 100 mm in some areas, with winds that could reach 100 km/h. Residents are advised to be cautious of power outages, damage to crops, falling trees, and possible flooding as a result of these intense weather conditions.
The most urgent warning is a red alert for nine cities in the coastal region of Paraná and the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba, which will remain active until noon on Saturday, December 14. This alert warns of significant potential danger from rainfall exceeding 100 mm, emphasizing the need for immediate protective measures in these areas to mitigate the risk of severe impacts from this weather event.
