The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has successfully trained 500 youths from the nine states of the Niger Delta region in a six-week program focused on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) autogas conversion. The graduation ceremony was held at the Dakkada Skills Acquisition Centre in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, where the Managing Director of NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, emphasized the importance of CNG as a cleaner, safer, and more cost-effective alternative to traditional fuels. This initiative aims to address the challenges of unemployment and limited access to skill training among youth in the region.

Dr. Ogbuku highlighted the NDDC's vision to transform the Niger Delta into a hub for engine conversion, which he sees as a significant opportunity that could also extend the services to other parts of Nigeria. He acknowledged the pressing issues faced by the youth, including high unemployment rates and economic uncertainties, and reiterated the Commission's commitment to engaging them through sustainable skill acquisition programs. This approach aligns with the broader goals of environmental sustainability and economic development within the region.
