Jigawa trains 120 artisans for planned CNG centres
Jigawa State has trained 120 artisans in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion as part of efforts to establish CNG centres to enhance alternative energy in Nigeria.
In a significant initiative to enhance Nigeria's alternative energy sector, Jigawa State has successfully trained 120 artisans on the conversion, maintenance, and safety measures related to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). This training, conducted by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board alongside Hatfield Global Resources and Safe AutoGas Ltd, is intended to equip local youths and artisans with the necessary skills to convert petrol-powered vehicles into CNG-powered alternatives. This move aligns with the state's broader goals of improving job opportunities and promoting environmentally-friendly energy solutions.
The Jigawa State Government is actively working on establishing CNG conversion centres throughout the region, an initiative aimed at reducing fuel costs and fostering energy efficiency. With significant investments, including over N132 million allocated towards a specialized training centre in Dutse, these efforts reflect a commitment to developing a sustainable energy infrastructure in the state. The establishment of such facilities is expected to lead to job creation and a reduction in dependence on traditional fossil fuels.
As Nigeria continues to seek diverse energy solutions amid rising fuel prices and environmental concerns, initiatives like the CNG training program in Jigawa exemplify proactive steps toward harnessing local resources and promoting alternative energy sources. This program not only empowers young artisans but also positions Jigawa State as a potential leader in the transition to cleaner energy practices within the country, aligning with national efforts to diversify energy sources and enhance domestic energy security.
