NDDC unveils CNG conversion training programme for 400 youths

The Niger Delta Development Commission has launched a training programme aimed at equipping 400 youths with skills in Compressed Natural Gas vehicle conversion.

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has initiated a six-week training programme to educate 400 Niger Delta youths on the conversion of vehicles to use Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). The flag-off ceremony took place at the Dakkada Skills Acquisition Centre in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, where NDDC Managing Director Samuel Ogbuku emphasized the importance of human capital development and the role of this initiative in supporting Nigeria's energy transition.

The programme will be conducted in two batches, each lasting three weeks, and aims to provide participants with hands-on skills in CNG vehicle conversion, system maintenance, and adherence to safety standards. This training is presented as a step towards empowering young people from the region, positioning them to engage with emerging energy technologies, which are integral to a more sustainable energy future.

By investing in such initiatives, the NDDC seeks not only to advance local employment opportunities but also to contribute to broader national goals regarding cleaner energy solutions. The emphasis on CNG as a cleaner and safer alternative to traditional fuels positions the youth as key players in the push toward cleaner energy practices in Nigeria.
