Plateau unveils CNG training for 120 youths
The Plateau State Government has launched a five-day training program on Compressed Natural Gas for 120 youths, focusing on empowerment and sustainability.
The Plateau State Government, in partnership with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board and Thermolinks Limited, has inaugurated a five-day training program designed to provide 120 youths with skills in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion, safety, and maintenance. This initiative was officially launched by the Plateau State Deputy Governor, Josephine Piyo, who emphasized that the program aligns with the Federal Government’s National Gas Expansion Programme, which promotes cleaner and safer energy alternatives across the nation.
During the opening ceremony held at the Federal Secretariat in Jos, Deputy Governor Piyo highlighted that the training is part of the administration's commitment to youth empowerment and skills development. She noted that the course offers practical, market-driven skills aimed not only at enhancing the employability of the participants but also enabling them to engage in entrepreneurship within Nigeria’s changing energy landscape. By focusing on environmental sustainability, the program underscores the state's dedication to equipping younger generations for future economic participation.
This initiative is significant as it reflects a broader strategy to mitigate unemployment among youths, addressing one of the critical issues facing Nigeria today. It aims to foster a skilled workforce capable of navigating the evolving energy sector, thereby contributing to both individual and national economic growth. Through such programs, the Plateau State Government intends to cultivate a generation of informed young energy professionals positioned to champion cleaner energy practices, ultimately leading to a more sustainable approach to energy consumption in Nigeria.
