In preparation for the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebrations from March 19 to 21, 2026, security agencies in Gombe State, Nigeria, have ramped up their efforts to ensure the safety of the festivities. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Police Command announced that they have mobilized a substantial number of personnel to provide adequate security coverage. The NSCDC Gombe State Command confirmed that approximately 700 officers have been deployed strategically throughout the state. This deployment focuses on high-traffic areas such as Eid prayer grounds, Hawan Durbar venues, recreational centers, markets, motor parks, and other public spaces, along with key national assets. Commandant CC Jibrin Idris emphasized the importance of this security operation, stating that the personnel will work closely with other security agencies to ensure a smooth and peaceful Sallah celebration.
The command has directed its officers to maintain vigilance and professionalism while carrying out their duties.
