Eid-el-Fitr: NSCDC deploys 4,000 to FCT prayer grounds, recreational centres, others
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed 4,000 personnel in Abuja to ensure safety during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
In an effort to maintain law and order during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has mobilised 4,000 personnel across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria. Commandant Olusola Odumosu announced the deployment, indicating that these personnel will be stationed across various locations including prayer grounds and recreational centres to ensure a peaceful environment for residents celebrating the festival.
The deployment includes specialist units such as the Arms Squad, Female Strike Force, and Counter-Terrorism Unit, underscoring the seriousness of the NSCDC's mandate to secure not only the populace but also critical national assets and infrastructure during this festive period. The initiative highlights the government's proactive approach in addressing security concerns, particularly during large public gatherings, aiming to mitigate risks associated with potential threats or disturbances.
This move comes as part of broader efforts to enhance public safety during significant cultural and religious events in Nigeria. The influx of personnel aims to reassure the community and contribute to a festive atmosphere where citizens can engage in traditional practices without fear while fostering a sense of security in the lead-up to and aftermath of Eid-el-Fitr festivities.
