Eid-el-Fitr: Police deploy 5000 personnel in Edo
The Edo State Police have deployed 5,000 personnel to ensure security during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations across the state.
The Edo State Police Command has announced the deployment of 5,000 police personnel in anticipation of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration this year. This move aims to guarantee a peaceful and secure environment throughout Edo for the festivities. The deployment will focus on areas with large gatherings, such as Eid prayer grounds, major roads, and motor parks, ensuring that police presence is felt in key locations during the celebration.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the police command, Eno Ikoedem, the extensive deployment is part of efforts to enhance police visibility and respond quickly to any potential issues that might arise. The police presence is not just to monitor but also to prevent any security threats, creating a sense of safety for participants in the Eid celebrations.
In addition to general patrols, specific units such as the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) personnel have been strategically positioned to conduct sweeps at designated prayer grounds and high-traffic areas. These actions aim to detect and mitigate any possible threats, ensuring a secure atmosphere for the over 5,000 personnel involved in maintaining public safety during this important religious occasion.
