Latvia's exports to the USA have decreased by almost 60%, with the largest drop in wooden products

Latvia's exports to the USA have seen a significant decline of nearly 60%, primarily affecting wooden products, while imports from the USA have risen sharply by 73.7%.

Latvia's trade dynamics have taken a dramatic turn, especially in its exports to the USA which plummeted almost 60%. The most affected sector is wooden products, indicating a substantial decline in demand or competitiveness in this market. In stark contrast, imports from the USA surged by 73.7%, amounting to 34 million euros, mainly driven by an increase in imported mineral products. This shift suggests possible changes in economic relations or market preferences that are influencing Latvian trade. Additionally, Latvian exports to Russia showed a concerning reduction of 18.5%, totaling 63.2 million euros, as the textiles sector suffered the most significant losses with a 41% drop. Imports from Russia fell dramatically by 91.3% to just 3.3 million euros, largely due to a steep decline in metal products. This steep drop in both exports and imports with Russia reflects the ongoing geopolitical tensions and its impacts on trade. Furthermore, exports to Ukraine also faced an 18% decline compared to the previous year, standing at 23.5 million euros, driven by decreased exports of textiles and rubber products. The overall trade reduction with these nations highlights the continuing challenges faced by Latvia in navigating its foreign trade relationships amid global economic dynamics.
