Impact of Tariffs: Significant Decrease in Latvia's Wood Products Exports to the USA

Latvia's wood product exports to the USA fell by 44% in December 2025 compared to 2024 due to tariffs and a weak construction market.

Recent statistics reveal that Latvia's total exports to the USA have dropped sharply, with a decline of 44% in December 2025 compared to the previous year, amounting to 27.9 million euros. This decrease is primarily attributed to a significant drop in the export of wood and wood products, as well as charcoal, which accounted for a loss of 15.4 million euros or 86.4%. According to Kristaps Klauss, the executive director of the Latvian Woodworking Industry Association (LKF), the total exports of wood and related products to the USA fell from 148 million euros in 2024 to 105 million euros in 2025.
