Brazilian chefs with Michelin stars create sandwiches at a charitable event
Brazilian Michelin-starred chefs are collaborating to create sandwiches for a charity event in São Paulo.
On March 30, the Dalva e Dito restaurant in São Paulo will host a charitable night featuring several Michelin-starred chefs, including Alex Atala, Rafa Costa e Silva, Ivan Ralston, Luiz Filipe Souza, and Felipe Bronze. Each chef will contribute an original sandwich, and the event is aimed at raising funds for the Quebrada Alimentada project, which addresses food insecurity exacerbated by the pandemic. Tickets for the event are priced at R$ 180 and will be available on Sympla starting next Monday, March 16.
The Quebrada Alimentada initiative was founded in 2020 by chef Rodrigo Oliveira and historian Adriana Salay in response to the increased hunger resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. It operates with the goal of providing not only food but also culinary education, having established a kitchen school in the Jardim Julieta area of northern São Paulo. The project currently serves around 500 meals daily, from Monday to Friday, reflecting its commitment to combating the ongoing challenges of food scarcity in the region.
By engaging renowned chefs in a charitable effort, this event not only showcases their culinary talents but also highlights the importance of community support and solidarity during difficult times. The participation of high-profile chefs is expected to draw significant attention and funds, thereby enhancing the impact of the Quebrada Alimentada project and raising awareness about the issues of hunger and poverty in Brazil.
