A tragic incident occurred in Uberaba, Brazil, where a 70-year-old woman had her leg crushed by a bus after she fell while disembarking. The accident transpired on the afternoon of October 9 at the city’s bus terminal, known as Terminal Rodoviário. Eyewitnesses reported that the woman fell into the gap between the bus and the platform as she was getting off, leading to the serious accident.
Rescue efforts were initiated swiftly, as video footage captured by passengers showed the woman receiving medical assistance at the scene. The Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) was called and arrived approximately 15 minutes later to provide urgent care. Following treatment at the terminal, the woman was transported to the Hospital de Clínicas da Universidade Federal do Triângulo Mineiro (HC-UFTM) for further medical evaluation. However, details regarding her current state of health remain undisclosed, as the hospital has not provided any information on patient conditions.
Authorities including the Municipal Civil Guard and the Civil Police were also summoned to the scene for assistance with the incident. The Public Transport Superintendency of the Secretary of Urban Mobility (Semob) has acknowledged that the accident occurred at around 2:20 PM and involved a public transport user, reflecting ongoing concerns over safety in public transport systems, particularly regarding the interface between buses and waiting platforms.
