An 88-year-old woman in Sorocaba suffered injuries after getting her hand stuck in a bus door and being dragged on the asphalt.
In Sorocaba, São Paulo, an 88-year-old woman encountered a distressing incident when she got her hand caught in a bus door while attempting to board. This accident occurred on a Tuesday and was captured on surveillance footage, which has since been released to the public. The video shows the chaotic moment after the bus driver failed to notice the woman entering through the middle door, causing the door to close on her hand, leading to her falling and being dragged several meters along the street.
Witnesses reported that the driver was not aware of the elderly woman's actions until a nearby bystander alerted him. Fortunately, the driver managed to stop just in time, preventing the bus from running over the victim. Following the incident, the elderly woman was taken to the Santo Antônio Terminal where she received immediate medical attention from local firefighters, noting that she sustained injuries to her right foot.
This unfortunate event raises concerns regarding the safety measures in place for public transportation, particularly for vulnerable populations such as the elderly. It highlights the need for better training for bus drivers and the implementation of policies that prioritize passenger safety to prevent such incidents in the future.
