Sefa seizes optical fiber equipment, tires, boats, and soft drinks in Baixo Amazonas

The State Finance Department of Pará seized a variety of goods on a boat lacking proper fiscal documentation in Brazil's Baixo Amazonas region.

On Sunday, October 8, the State Finance Department of Pará (Sefa) conducted a significant operation resulting in the seizure of various goods including optical fiber equipment, 380 cases of soft drinks, 68 tires, and eight boats, with a total estimated value of R$ 218,409.79. The operation took place due to the absence of valid fiscal documentation for the cargo, which was located in the hold and on the deck of a vessel traveling from Manaus to Oriximiná.

The inspection was carried out by revenue officers from the Coordination of Control of Goods in Transit in the Tapajós region of Baixo Amazonas, in western Pará. The coordinator, Roberto Mota, stated that the person responsible for the vessel was unable to present the necessary fiscal documentation to justify the transport of these goods, prompting the seizure. This highlights ongoing issues with regulatory compliance in the transportation of goods within the region.

Following the seizure, a Term of Seizure and Deposit (TAD) was issued, which amounted to R$ 71,048.81, covering both taxes and fines. This operation underscores the efforts of local authorities in enforcing tax regulations and controlling the flow of goods without proper documentation, which can impact the local economy and the legitimate trade practices in the area.
