Sefa seizes backhoe during inspection in Óbidos

A backhoe valued at R$ 860,000 was seized in Óbidos during a fiscal inspection by the state Department of Finance in Pará.

During a recent inspection in Óbidos, a backhoe worth R$ 860,000 was seized by the Coordination of Merchandise Control in Transit of the Tapajós region. The backhoe was being transported on a vessel coming from Manaus, Amazonas, with the intended destination of Santarém, Pará. The fiscal inspection was part of routine checks carried out by the Secretary of Finance of the State of Pará (Sefa).

The seizure occurred because the individual responsible for the transportation of the machinery failed to present proper fiscal documentation to justify the transport of the merchandise. In response to this irregularity, a seizure and deposit term was issued, placing a monetary value of R$ 294,120.00 on the penalty. Roberto Mota, the coordinator of the Merchandise Control in Transit, emphasized the importance of adhering to legal documentation requirements for transporting goods across state lines.

Such inspections are essential for maintaining compliance with state regulations and ensuring the proper collection of taxes on transported goods. The incident highlights ongoing efforts by Sefa to crack down on illicit transportation of high-value items, safeguarding the state revenue and deterring further irregularities in fiscal practices.
