Two Lithuanian Families Missed the Evacuation Flight from the UAE: Another Country Took Care of Them
Two Lithuanian families failed to board a repatriation flight from the UAE, and another country has offered to assist them.
Ambassador RamΕ«nas Davidonis and representatives from the Lithuanian embassy are overseeing the repatriation flight to Vilnius for Lithuanian citizens, primarily focusing on vulnerable groups. However, two Lithuanian families could not board the flight for various reasons, and the embassy is actively working to resolve this issue. The Cypriot ambassador has offered to include these families on a flight heading to Cyprus as part of the humanitarian response.
The Lithuanian embassy is operating under maximum readiness and is maintaining constant communication with Lithuanian citizens in the UAE and the Persian Gulf. They are actively seeking solutions to ensure that citizens can safely return home. This readiness includes coordinating evacuations and providing assistance as needed. Approximately one hundred Lithuanian citizens, along with others from different countries, are scheduled to return to Vilnius on an evacuation flight organized by FlyDubai on Friday.
The repatriation flight is provided at no charge to the passengers, with funding coming from EU financial mechanisms. This reflects the collaborative efforts within the EU to support citizens in distress abroad amid ongoing challenges, ensuring their safe return during emergencies. The embassy's proactive measures showcase the importance of international cooperation in times of crisis and the commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens overseas.
