Foreign Ministry Chancellor: More than 100 Lithuanians will return from UAE to Lithuania on evacuation flight on Friday

An evacuation flight from the UAE to Lithuania on Friday will repatriate over 100 Lithuanians, according to the Chancellor of the Foreign Ministry.

The Chancellor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, A. Stakėnienė, announced that an evacuation flight organized by FlyDubai is set to take off from the UAE back to Lithuania, scheduled for Friday afternoon. This flight aims to bring back a group of over 100 Lithuanians, including individuals who are part of vulnerable groups which will not be required to pay for their journey. The EU will cover 75% of the costs, while Lithuania will bear the remaining 25%.

Stakėnienė emphasized that this initiative is particularly focused on ensuring the safe return of those who have been most affected and are in need of assistance. The government is taking responsibility for these evacuees, highlighting that their safety and well-being are paramount. In addition to this evacuation flight, Stakėnienė noted that Lithuanians remaining in the Middle East will have the opportunity to return home via commercial flights in the coming days.

The evacuation mark represents a crucial effort by the Lithuanian government to address the needs of its citizens abroad, particularly in the context of ongoing challenges in the region. Many citizens facing difficulties have expressed their frustrations regarding a lack of support from local institutions during such emergencies, underscoring the importance of government coordination and support during crises.
