On the way – another plane from Dubai: it became clear when it will land in Vilnius

A flight organized by the airline ‘flydubai’ is scheduled to arrive in Vilnius today from Dubai, as part of the evacuation efforts for Lithuanians stranded in the UAE.

A flight from Dubai to Vilnius is anticipated to take place today, organized by the airline flydubai, as confirmed by Martynas Jaugelavičius, a spokesperson for Lithuanian airports. This development follows an earlier flight that arrived in Vilnius early Thursday morning, bringing back Lithuanian citizens who were stranded in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

One of the returnees, a man from Kaunas named Aurelijus, expressed relief at returning safely to Lithuania after experiencing a challenging travel situation. He was stranded while on holiday in a different country and had to wait in Dubai for a connecting flight to return home. Faced with unexpected costs, he paid approximately one thousand euros for his tickets back to Lithuania, highlighting the financial strain on individuals needing to return amidst evacuation efforts.

The current situation sheds light on the difficulties faced by Lithuanians abroad, particularly those stuck in regions due to travel disruptions. Many, including Aurelijus, felt abandoned without adequate support from institutions, illustrating the need for better assistance during such crisis situations. The financial burden of around a thousand euros for those evacuating has raised concerns among citizens about the effectiveness of government support during emergencies.
