FlyDubai will arrange charter flights to Vilnius for Lithuanian citizens with tickets from the UAE
FlyDubai has announced plans to operate charter flights from the UAE to Vilnius for Lithuanian citizens who have purchased tickets, while also confirming that the government will continue its evacuation plans for vulnerable groups.
On Wednesday, Lithuania's National Crisis Management Centre (NKVC) announced that FlyDubai will be organizing charter flights from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Vilnius for Lithuanian citizens who already had tickets booked. The airline will take the initiative to contact and register passengers, who will not need to go to the airport until they receive a message from the company regarding their flight specifics. This is a significant measure for the citizens affected by the current situation in the region, providing a pathway for their return home.
The announcement comes in the context of ongoing government efforts to ensure the safe evacuation of vulnerable groups from the UAE and neighboring countries. The Foreign Ministry of Lithuania previously reported that it has already planned an evacuation flight from the UAE, although the exact timing of this flight has yet to be determined. It is anticipated that the evacuation will occur in the coming days, as the NKVC is actively preparing evacuation plans and coordinating with citizens who have requested assistance.
Priority for the evacuations will be given to the most vulnerable segments of the population, including individuals with disabilities, pregnant women, families with young children, unaccompanied minors, and those suffering from health issues. The government, while facilitating charter services, emphasizes that these arrangements do not alter its commitment to support the evacuation of these vulnerable groups, ensuring they receive the necessary consular assistance throughout this process.
