PRF arrests two men with 40 bundles of base cocaine on Via Dutra, in Piraí
Two men were arrested on Via Dutra in Piraí, Brazil, after being found with 40 bundles of base cocaine.
On October 4th, the Federal Highway Police (PRF) arrested two men, aged 56 and 66, on Via Dutra near Piraí, Rio de Janeiro. The incident occurred around 6 PM at km 242, where authorities noticed suspicious behavior from the driver of a vehicle during a routine inspection. The driver provided inconsistent explanations for their travel, which raised the officers' suspicions.
Upon searching the vehicle, the PRF discovered a hidden compartment located between the passenger seat and the trunk. This compartment was designed with a hinge and wires leading to a mechanism that could open it, indicating a calculated attempt to conceal illegal substances. In total, 40 bundles of base cocaine weighing approximately 40 kg were seized, demonstrating significant drug trafficking activity in the region.
This bust highlights the ongoing challenge of drug trafficking on Brazilian highways, particularly along major routes like Via Dutra. The PRF’s vigilance in monitoring suspicious activities is crucial for curbing the flow of illicit drugs, and such operations are vital for public safety and law enforcement efforts across Brazil.
