A truck driver was arrested on the Via Dutra highway in Piraí, Rio de Janeiro, while transporting a substantial load of 54 kilograms of base paste cocaine. The incident occurred on Friday, October 20, when the Federal Highway Police (PRF) intercepted the tractor-trailer at kilometer 227. Upon inspection, the authorities discovered the illegal substance hidden in boxes within the truck.

The driver disclosed that the cocaine was picked up in Mogi das Cruzes, a city in São Paulo, and was destined for the state of Rio de Janeiro. This indicates a significant trafficking route between these states, highlighting ongoing drug smuggling operations in Brazil.
