Duo arrested with anabolic steroids and prohibited drug on Via Dutra, in Piraí
Two men were arrested in Piraí, Brazil, for possession of anabolic steroids and a prohibited medication during a routine traffic stop.
On Thursday, two men were arrested on Via Dutra in Piraí, Rio de Janeiro, after being found in possession of anabolic steroids and 24 ampoules of Tirzepatide, a medication prohibited in Brazil by Anvisa. The arrest occurred during a routine inspection by the Federal Highway Police at kilometer 233. The suspects claimed they were returning from a two-day trip to Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná, where they had crossed into Paraguay to purchase items.
During the inspection, when questioned about illicit substances in their vehicle, the driver admitted to transporting the anabolic steroids and the banned medication. They attempted to justify their possession by presenting special control prescriptions. However, the documentation they provided did not conform to legal standards, and further questioning revealed more inconsistencies in their story.
The case highlights the ongoing issue of illegal drug transportation across borders in Brazil, particularly in relation to anabolic steroids and medications that are not approved for use in the country. The actions of the Federal Highway Police are part of broader efforts to combat such illegal activities and protect public health from the risks associated with unauthorized drug use.
