Drugs seized after suspect flees in Barra do Piraí

A significant quantity of drugs was seized in Barra do Piraí, Brazil, after a suspect fled from police during a routine patrol.

In the early hours of Sunday, a police patrol in the Caixa D'Água neighborhood of Barra do Piraí, Rio de Janeiro, led to the seizure of a large amount of drugs. The operation began when officers spotted a man carrying a suspicious bag, who then attempted to flee upon realizing the police presence. During his escape, he discarded the bag, which contained various types of narcotics. The drugs seized included 251 portions, with 141 bundles of crack weighing 70.5 grams, 44 portions of marijuana totaling 127.6 grams, and 21 packages of cocaine along with 45 pinos also filled with cocaine, making up a total of 139.1 grams of that substance. Despite the significant find, the suspect managed to escape the authorities, and efforts to capture him were unsuccessful. The seized drugs were taken to the Barra do Piraí police station, where the case was officially recorded. The police continue to investigate the incident, but no additional information about the suspect or further arrests have been reported at this time, highlighting ongoing challenges in drug enforcement within the region.
