Driver of Porsche who fell from Banpo Bridge arrested... "Concerns of evidence destruction and flight"

A female driver was arrested after crashing her Porsche off the Banpo Bridge while under the influence of drugs, leading to concerns about her potential to destroy evidence and flee.

On July 27, a 30-year-old woman identified as G was arrested following a severe car accident that took place on the Banpo Bridge in Seoul, where her Porsche fell into the Han River basin. The Seoul Western District Court granted her arrest warrant due to violations of drug control laws and traffic laws concerning drug-impaired driving. The court expressed concerns that she might destroy evidence related to the case or attempt to escape before facing trial.

The incident occurred on July 25 at approximately 8:44 PM when G drove her black Porsche at high speed, losing control and crashing through the bridge's guardrail. After the fall, she sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital, while another driver—a man in his 40s who was struck by the Porsche—also suffered light injuries. The discovery of empty bottles of propofol, a syringe loaded with drugs, and medical equipment in the abandoned vehicle has sparked significant public concern regarding drug use while driving.

During the police investigation, G reportedly admitted to using drugs at the time of the accident, further complicating the legal ramifications of her actions. This case raises serious questions about road safety and the enforcement of laws against drug-impaired driving in South Korea, highlighting the need for stricter measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
