Driver of Porsche that fell from Banpo Bridge sent to prosecution for violation of drug management laws
The driver of a Porsche, who fell from Bonpo Bridge while under the influence of drugs, has been sent to the prosecution for violating drug management laws.
A serious incident occurred when a Porsche vehicle, driven by an individual identified as K, fell off the Banpo Bridge in Seoul while reportedly under the influence of psychoactive substances. The Yongsan Police of Seoul announced that K has been arrested and sent to the prosecution on charges of violating drug control laws. This incident happened at 8:44 PM on the 25th of last month, resulting in K’s car plummeting through the railings and crashing onto the Han River embankment below, which also caused injury to a Mercedes driver that K had collided with during the fall, requiring their hospitalization.
Following the investigation, police discovered empty bottles of propofol and syringes filled with drugs inside K's vehicle after the crash. K reportedly admitted to using drugs while driving, highlighting the serious implications of drug-driving not just for the driver but for other road users as well. Additionally, on the 2nd, a hospital staff member identified as N, who allegedly supplied the drugs to K, voluntarily appeared before the police for questioning, indicating a wider issue of drug distribution and use.
The police are currently conducting further investigations into K’s charges related to drugged driving and dangerous driving resulting in injury, and they plan to submit the findings for additional prosecution. This case raises concerns regarding the prevalence of drug use and its impact on road safety, prompting discussions about stricter enforcement of drug laws in South Korea.
