Police urgently arrest Porsche driver for 'Banpo Bridge fall'…drug driving charges
A Porsche driver has been urgently arrested by police in Seoul for drug driving after her vehicle fell off the Banpo Bridge, injuring herself and another driver.
In Seoul, a woman in her 30s, identified only as Mr. G, was urgently arrested on charges of drug driving after her black Porsche fell off the Banpo Bridge. The incident occurred around 8:44 PM, when the car broke through the railing and plunged towards the Han River embankment below, resulting in injuries for both the driver and another motorist who was struck by the falling vehicle. Reports indicate that the Porsche driver suffered bruises and was taken to the hospital, as was the 40-year-old male driver of the other car involved in the collision.
Authorities from the Yongsan Police Station arrested Mr. G under both the Narcotics Control Act and Road Traffic Act due to suspicions of drugged driving. Investigations have revealed that a significant quantity of drug paraphernalia was found in the wrecked vehicle, including empty bottles of propofol, filled syringes, and medical tubing. This alarming discovery raises serious questions about the extent of drug misuse and its impact on road safety in the area.
The police are currently investigating the circumstances of the accident and the sources of the drugs to determine further legal actions, including whether to seek a detention warrant for the suspect. This case highlights ongoing concerns about dangerous driving behavior linked to substance abuse, prompting discussions on the need for stricter enforcement of drug driving laws in South Korea, particularly given the rising number of similar incidents in recent years.
