Job in Russia, 200 youth and Delhi Airport... The story of a fraud of 15 million

A group of about 200 youths from Gonda, India, were conned by a fraudulent immigration consulting company that promised jobs in Russia but failed to deliver.

A significant fraud case has emerged in India, where around 200 young individuals from Gonda, Uttar Pradesh were deceived by a company named Multi International Immigration Counseling. This company lured these individuals with promises of employment in Russia for positions such as drivers and carpenters, offering salaries of 80,000 rubles per month. They were selected through interviews and made to pay substantial fees ranging from 100,000 to 200,000 rupees, under the guise of securing jobs abroad.

Upon receiving what appeared to be legitimate offer letters, these hopeful job seekers were instructed to gather at Delhi Airport for their departure. However, when they arrived, they found no representatives from the company, leading to a lengthy realization that they had been scammed. The youths, primarily from middle-class and impoverished backgrounds, felt completely betrayed as they returned home and subsequently filed complaints at the local police station.

The involvement of a fraudulent consulting agency raises serious questions about the regulation of immigration consultancies in India and the vulnerabilities of job seekers, especially from economically weaker sections of society. This incident highlights the urgent need for stricter oversight and protective measures for individuals seeking better opportunities abroad, as the desperation for overseas employment can sometimes lead them into the clutches of deceitful operators.
