More Indian workers expected in Russia – Envoy
The Russian ambassador in India predicts a significant increase in the number of Indian workers in Russia due to growing mutual business interests.
The Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, announced that the number of Indian workers in Russia, currently exceeding 70,000, is expected to rise as mutual business interests strengthen between the two nations. Alipov emphasized that the growing professional opportunities and agreements being implemented are likely to enhance people-to-people contacts, further expanding both humanitarian and commercial ties.
With Russia facing a critical labor shortage, particularly in its industrial regions, this influx of skilled Indian workers is seen as a crucial solution. The Russian Labor Ministry has projected that this shortage may reach an alarming 3.1 million workers by 2030. In light of this, Russia's engagement with India to increase labor mobility is a significant aspect of bilateral discussions and negotiations.
India, often referred to as the 'skill capital of the world' with over 600 million skilled workers, positions itself favorably in addressing these labor needs. The expanding opportunities for Indian professionals in Russia not only benefit the Russian economy but also foster a deeper collaboration between India and Russia across various sectors, laying the groundwork for future economic partnerships.
