A study on the renovation of Kaunas Old Town streets has been prepared: planned changes and priorities
A comprehensive study has been developed to guide the future renovation of streets in Kaunas Old Town, focusing on people's needs and enhancing the cultural and historical context.
The newly prepared document, covering 99 hectares, aims to serve as the foundation for decision-making regarding the future management and renovation of streets in Kaunas Old Town. It takes into account various needs, including those of people and infrastructure, while respecting the cultural and historical context of the area. The study consists of over one hundred pages, featuring a detailed analysis of the current state and conceptual solutions that address aspects such as road surfaces, greenery, small architecture, traffic organization, service infrastructure, and heritage conservation.
In evaluating the historical development of the Old Town, the document highlights the valuable features of cultural heritage, urban structure, and the connections between streets and local landmarks. Furthermore, it assesses the condition of road surfaces, existing greenery, and the transportation system, providing a holistic view of the area. The study also models potential development scenarios and evaluates their impacts, incorporating consultations with various stakeholders to ensure widespread input and expertise in the planning process.
