Renovation Work on Naikupė Street Begins in Klaipėda
Renovation work on Naikupė Street in Klaipėda is set to begin to address complaints over its poor condition from both drivers and pedestrians.
The municipality of Klaipėda has announced the commencement of renovation works on Naikupė Street, which has been the source of dissatisfaction for drivers and pedestrians due to its deteriorating condition. The road surface is described as damaged, cracked, and uneven, with outdated utilities that do not comply with current road level standards, as highlighted by the city's mayor, Arvydas Vaitkus.
The renovation project aims to improve approximately 7,800 square meters of the road surface, which includes laying new asphalt, fixing sidewalks, upgrading curbs, and ensuring the safety of underground communication lines. Additional improvements will involve updating street lighting and plantings, enhancing overall visibility and aesthetics of the area. Approximately 64 parking spaces will be created post-renovation, including 8 designated for persons with disabilities.
The project, costing around €400,000, will be executed by the company Vigrinda. If the work proceeds without complications, the city expects to have a revitalized Naikupė Street that not only meets safety standards but also improves the quality of life for residents and visitors, offering a visually appealing and functional urban space.
