Kim is being investigated for allegedly receiving 30 million won from the Unification Church ahead of the April 2020 elections under the pretext of election funding. He arrived at the Seoul High Prosecutor's Office on the morning of the 25th and denied the allegations, stating that they were unfounded and had led him to file a defamation case against a former key member of the Unification Church who provided testimony against him.
