Jeong, who oversaw the church's finances, is accused of being involved in the church's alleged monetary exchanges with politicians. Previously, former global leader of the church, Yoon Young-ho, stated in an investigation led by Special Prosecutor Min Jung-ki that between 2018 and 2020, substantial sums were transferred to politicians including Jeon Jae-soo of the Democratic Party and Kim Kyu-hwan, former head of the Korea Coal Corporation.
